NEPTUN Plug
Resorbable Cement Restrictor for Endoprosthetics
The NEPTUN Plug is a resorbable cement restrictor designed for use in the medullary canal during cemented endoprosthetic procedures in orthopaedics and trauma surgery. It stabilizes the bone cement application, prevents uncontrolled distal migration of the cement, and enables targeted pressure build-up in the femoral shaft. This ensures even distribution of the cement within the surrounding bone bed for optimal fixation.
The restrictor is available in diameters from 8 to 18 mm (in increments of 2 mm) and adapts flexibly to individual anatomical conditions. Made from an elastic, gelatin-based biomaterial, it dissolves completely at body temperature within a few days, leaving no residue. Removal is not required, even in revision surgery.
Your Benefits at a Glance

- Methylparahydroxybenzoate
Application with Matching Insertion Instrument
The corresponding insertion instrument enables safe, depth-controlled placement of the cement restrictor in the medullary canal. The included set of trial olives allows precise determination of the canal diameter for selecting the correct restrictor size. Application is quick, reliable, and requires minimal instrumentation:

The current instrumentation for placing the restrictors is easy to use, and determining the correct size for the required restrictor is straightforward. With six available sizes ranging from 8 to 18 mm, we have ample options to achieve the desired cementing result.
We can therefore confidently recommend the resorbable NEPTUN Plug cement restrictors.
