NEPTUN Mix Systems – Bone Cement mixing Solutions for Orthopedics and Endoprosthetics

Reliable bone cement preparation under vacuum – efficient and reproducible
NEPTUN Mix offers two systems for bone cement preparation in orthopedics and endoprosthetics. Both the bowl and the cartridge enable homogeneous mixing under vacuum conditions. The two variants cover different requirements in the operating room.

NEPTUN Mix Bowl

The NEPTUN Mix Bowl is designed for use in orthopedics and is suitable for both primary knee arthroplasty and complex revision procedures. Its special rotation axis mechanism ensures uniform mixing with low porosity and high homogeneity. Vacuum preparation guarantees consistent results in every application.
An ergonomically shaped spatula facilitates cement removal, while the included curette allows precise removal of excess material.

NEPTUN Mix cartridge

NEPTUN Produktlinie Zementiertechnik LOSCH Medical

The NEPTUN Mix cartridge system enables uniform bone cement mixing under vacuum in a compact format. The transparent cartridge allows visual monitoring of the mixing process, while a screw thread enables direct connection to the application gun.

An ergonomic T-handle ensures comfortable mixing, while the colored break point simplifies handling. The system is designed for up to 80 g of bone cement and is particularly suitable for standardised applications in daily surgical routines.

Cement Quality Compared: Mixing with Our Vacuum Systems vs. Manual Mixing

Numerous studies have shown that the method of bone cement preparation has a significant impact on its physical properties. An uneven mixture, for example due to manual mixing without a vacuum, can lead to trapped air bubbles, increased porosity, and reduced stability. The following X-ray images illustrate the difference between classic manual mixing and mechanical vacuum mixing. The homogeneous structure on the left represents the benefits of controlled, low-air preparation, exactly as achieved with our NEPTUN Mix Systems.

NEPTUN Mix Bowl – Bone Cement Mixing System
What speaks in favour of vacuum mixing and the bowl?

Above all, the cement mixing bowl convinces us with its reproducible results under vacuum. The easy option of mixing in antibiotics for revision procedures is another advantage. Since 2013, we have been successfully using the bowl vacuum mixing systems for knee endoprostheses, with over 4,000 procedures to date. The bowl’s geometry and the rotational paddle (mixing blade) ensure safe handling during surgery. The filling capacity of 120 g is very convenient and speaks in favour of the system. The bowl has convinced both myself and my surgical team, as it allows us to achieve the desired mixing result in just a few easy steps.”

NEPTUN Mix Cartridge – Bone Cement Mixing System
In our daily clinical and surgical work in trauma surgery, orthopaedics, and sports traumatology, we rely on the cartridge mixing system.

The logically designed system, including the application gun, allows us to produce high-quality bone cement. It provides the surgeon with confidence and supports a highly reliable fixation of cemented prosthetic components. The reproducible result and ease of handling speak for themselves. We are fully convinced by the cartridge mixing system.”
